Progression Toolbox Upgrading from previous versions of Progression

Q. How do I upgrade from an older version of Progression Toolbox?

1. If you are using the web version of Progression, stop your web service. If you're using IIS, this can be done by going to a command line and typing "net stop w3svc" and hitting your enter key.
2. Backup your current installation directory.
3. Uninstall your current version of Progression.

   If you are using a shared database:

   1. Install the latest version of the older version of Progression Toolbox. The setup program for Progression can be found on this installation CD at: {CD}:\Archive\vXX\TB\setup.exe. Please refer to your Progression Toolbox Reference Manual for instructions on how to set up Progression.
   2. Run the older version of Progression.
   3. Open and login to your database.
   4. Click on the 'Tools->Administrator' menu. One of the menu options is 'Export...".
   5. Select Export and click on 'Table Database Format' as the type of export.
   6. Click on the 'Next' button and select a file you would like to export the database to and click on the 'Next' button.
   7. Click on the 'Finish' button to export the database.
   8. Close Progression.
   9. Start the new version of Progression Toolbox.
   10. Open your database or create a new database.
   11. Click 'Cancel' on the login screen.
   12. Click on the 'File' menu. The first menu option is 'New Database...'.
   13. Select 'New Database...' and create the database.
   14. Click on the 'Tools->Administrator' menu. One of the menu options is 'Import...'.
   15. Select 'Import...' and click on 'Table Database Format' as the type of import.
   16. Click on the 'Next' button.
   17. Click on the 'Browse' button and select the file you've exported.
   18. Click on 'Next' and then click on 'Finish'

   If you are using a server (SQL Server) database:

   1. Run the dbupdateXX.sql SQL script on your existing database.  This script can be found in your installation directory. Please refer to your Abante Progression Toolbox ODBC Setup Reference Manual for more detailed information..
   2. Open your database as you would otherwise open a database.
   3. When Progression asks to confirm that you have run the update script, answer yes to continue.
   4. If you are using the web version of Progression, start your web service. If you're using IIS, this can be done by going to a command line and typing "net start w3svc" and hitting your enter key.
   
   
4. Restore/copy the .lic and .cfg files from your backedup installation directory to your current installation directory.
