Progression Toolbox Installing Progression Toolbox ODBC drivers can be downloaded from your server vendor. Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 drivers are included on this CD. They can be found at: {CD}:\System\dcom95.exe (usually required on Windows 95 machines) {CD}:\System\mdac_typ.exe

*** Windows NT 4 Users ***

Service Pack 3 or higher must be installed in order for Progression to run. If this is not installed please download the service pack from Microsoft or install the service pack located on this CD.

*** Windows 95 Users ***

• Network Redirector Update - If you are installing Progression under Windows 95B (OEM Service Release 2 (OSR2) or 2.x (OSR 2.x)) and will be using a shared database over a Microsoft network, you must install the network redirector update to each client station. If this is not installed please download the update from Microsoft or install the update located on this CD. See the Knowledge-Base document Q174371. *** Netware Users ***

If you are using a shared database on a Netware server, you should be sure to have the latest patches for your server and the latest Netware client with patches installed. Older client versions can cause problems.

Novell Client v3.3 or higher is a supported configuration.

If you are using the Microsoft client for Novell, make sure you install the Network Redirector Update if appropriate. See the Windows 95 section above for more information.

There are several settings that should be set in the Novell Client.

Turn off "cache writes" in the advanced settings of the client. By default, "cache writes" is turned "on" when the client is installed. File Cache level should also be set to '0". Both of these settings decrease the performance of the connection to the server but will allow the use of the database without corruption. The 'True Commit' setting should also be set to 'on'.
